Continuing Education

With the enactment of SB 1608 in 2008, California law requires California architects to take continuing education coursework in disability access in order to renew their license.

All California architects will have to complete 5 hours of disability access continuing education to renew their license in 2011 and each subsequent renewal.

Sample California Coursework Provider Documentation Form
SB 1608 requires architects who have to take CE to renew their license in 2009 to send the California Architects Board a Coursework Provider Documentation form along with their application to renew their license. This form will be provided at all classroom courses provided through AIA Chapters, and by all online course providers linked on this site. Online Courses
The AIA California Council provides online courses for architects to comply with their CE requirement. Currently the AIACC is offering five hours of online coursework, allowing architects to meet the disability access continuing education requirement to renew their license in 2011.
