Founder and owner Dorte Mandrup can refer to 20 years of professional experience and a line of internationally recognized iconic buildings. Dorte is known for her artistic talent and expertise in summarizing and solving complex problems in an architectural design and has made it her specialty to work in difficult contexts solving complex programmes – offering solutions that are playful, innovative and poetic.
Furthermore she has a certain ability to create strong relations to surrounding buildings and secure the social space and interaction. In her architectural solutions, she seeks to combine the tactile and aesthetic experience
of space with conceptual clarity and accuracy. Dorte’s work is based on a strong analytical sense which leads to concepts that are well argued and with a built in logic of its own. On this foundation, constructions, variation of space and materials,
are investigated, always with innovative and surprising solutions.
The organization of the office allows Dorte to work “hands on” and in close interaction with the project teams, and she has design responsibility for the layout of every project in the studio. Her work has obtained numerous national and international awards. Her ability to cut to the core of a problem is also recognized and used in international jury contexts, and in her work as a lecturer and professor. Among other professional appointments, Dorte Mandrup is a board member at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and since 2011 an appointed member of the Historic Buildings Council under the Act of the Ministry of Culture on Building Preservation and Conservation of Buildings and Urban Environments.
